I must say that I am so thankful for Bri's eye Doctor and Rheumatologist! I think that right now we are lucky that we got Bri into the eye Doctor to get her Uveitis diagnosis so early! This has now turned into another struggle as far as I personally am going through! She has been able to play at the park, run, ride her scooter and is just playing without pain. I will never forget the days that she couldn't walk at all...I took not one photo or video because it killed me to see her pain! It is all just a vision that Eric and I and our kids and family have put in those back files...thankfully:). So we move onto her eyes, and I am praying and praying that at her appointment next week her Dr will say that both her left and her right eyes swelling has gone down. The strange thing is it is the severeness is bouncing from eye to eye...and so we wait....I saw Tim McGraw on the Today show this morning and Bri and I danced while he was performing! He sang my favorite song "Live like you were dying" just a great song! Bri and I danced, she grabbed her microphone and was singing-precious precious moments! I just read an article that I will post that I found interesting...
"Autoimmune diseases are somewhat poorly understood yet include more than 80 ailments such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, scleroderma and some thyroid conditions. More than 10 million Americans suffer from autoimmune diseases, which are caused by an immune system gone awry. In autoimmune disorders, the immune system mistakes the body's own tissues and organs for foreign invaders and produces antibodies to attack them. Scientists believe that autoimmune diseases are caused by the interplay of genetics and environmental triggers. Moreover, potential risk of triggering an autoimmune response must be weighed carefully against the risk of illness and possible death from influenza.
"This is especially true since many patients with autoimmune disease take powerful medications to suppress their immune systems," Maragakis says. "These medications make them more susceptible to acquiring infections such as influenza and more likely to suffer a severe form of the disease or even death from influenza."
WOW! So where can I buy a bubble to put my daughter in? Hmmm...Didn't think I could! I must wash Bri's hands a million times a day, no I do not use the hand sanitizer that contains alcohol due to the fact that for some reason Bri still puts alot of things in her mouth! I would hate to put that hand sanitizer on her hands and have her lick her hands...sorry, soap and water for us! I had a friend (Hack) you know who you are haha, at David's baseball game the other night tell me that these next few weeks are reportedly the highest ranked weeks for the flu virus so I am definantely keeping Bri away from crowds! Yes she does have 4 other siblings in public school but they are healthy!

Stacey,
ReplyDeleteIs Bri getting the H1N1 Vaccination? I HATE to give it to Ayla and I hate NOT to give it to her. What if she gets the flu and I could have avoided it and what if she doesn't do so well if she gets the flu? We just had 17 year old (in this area) die from the swine flu, she had a compromised immune system and was not able to fight it off...
So, what to do?
