Blood Test and XRay Results

At 11:30 today I took Bri back to her Pediatrician to see what the results were from her blood test and from her XRays. She said that there is no infection, and the xrays showed no trauma or broken knee, nothing wrong as far as the xray. Well her blood test results showed a few things that were abnormal the Ped said and she wanted us to talk to a Rheumatologist. So with that we weren't even thinking that Bri could have Arthritis so that was really strange to hear this. But we got an appointment for Wednesday nov. 5th. So at 10:00 AM Eric and I took Bri to Dr. Ede her Rheum and he explained the blood test results to Eric and I. He said that her RF (rheumatoid factor) is 8 range is 14, Sed rate was at 40 Normal is 0-10, her CRP was 19.7 normal is 8.0, her platelet count was 594 normal is 130-450 and her ANA was questionable because it came up positive and than it also said negative on page 2. So that was weird. But Dr. Ede (rheum) said that due to these blood test results it looks like Brianna has JRA. I think my jaw dropped to the floor and my heart stopped beating! JRA (Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis) in Bri? How could that be she is only 16 months old??? I was one of those that thought only adults could get Arthritis! Eric and I have never ever heard of a child let alone a 16 month old getting Arthritis! So ok now what do we do? What is going to happen? Is it going to go away in time with medicine? Is she going to be ok? I had a million questions going through my head that night that of course I didn't ask because I was just in awe of this! Dr. Ede gave us a few brochures to read about it and he said she has Pauciarticular Onset JRA. So of course when we left Eric went on the internet and I went on the internet. Dr. Ede also told us that we would have to have her see an eye Dr. because JRA can cause eye inflammation called uveitis. Dr. Ede asked if Bri has had a fever, or a rash. And she has not had either one. I guess with some JRA the symptoms can include a high spiking fever that may last for weeks or even months, and a rash of pale red spots that appear on the child's chest, thighs and sometimes other parts of the body. Her inflammation on her right knee felt warm to the touch as well, and this is a symptom of Arthritis. So now we are just wanting to know as much as possible without freaking out about all of this! But of course the internet has it's way of scaring you beyond what is actually true. Some websites that Eric and I went onto said JRA causes blindness...that's that. So needless to say I had to find the right information otherwise we would of panicked to death :). So for now we are keeping our eye on Bri's right knee. Dr. Ede also informed us that since Bri has not had the symptoms for at least 6 weeks that he wanted to see us back in 6 weeks. The diagnosis is made by the presence of active arthritis in one or more joints for at least 6 weeks after other conditions have been ruled out. So I pray pray pray this goes away...
